OUR MISSION STATEMENT:
We at St. John’s Nursery School seek to provide a loving, caring and Christian environment where children can learn and grow through various activities. We are concerned with all aspects of each child’s development—intellectual and physical as well as social and emotional. We seek to nurture each child’s inborn gifts and abilities as well as give them opportunities to experience new ideas. We want to encourage each child to persevere and believe in themselves.
The program for our 3 year olds focuses primarily on socialization, separation from their caregiver, fine and gross motor skills, developing their language skills, an introduction to basic colors, shapes and concepts, sharing, taking turns, listening, following simple directions, developing eye-hand coordination through music and stories.
The program for our 4 year olds will continue to develop their fine and gross motor skills, language skills, sharing, listening, following directions, reviewing their colors and shapes, introduction to their numbers (1-10), the letters of the alphabet, as well as name recognition, writing, and eye-hand coordination.
A typical day will consist of circle time, the pledge of allegiance, prayer, calendar, weather, free play, seasonal and letter projects, find and gross motor activities, show & tell, story time, music and of course snack time.
