PRAYER LIST—In order to keep our Prayer list up-to-date, as of the beginning of September we will be starting from a new list. Please call the office if you want someone on the Prayer List.
SEPTEMBER 11th is on a Saturday this year. At the 5 p.m. Contemporary Worship Service Pastor Tom will have a special recognition of that day.
THE AMERICANA FESTIVAL will be held on Sunday, September 19th from 12 noon—4 p.m. on the church grounds. There will be banjo music, children’s moon bounce & games, obstacle course, raffle table and hand made items. Tickets are now on sale. Adults & children over 12 are $14, Children 6—12 years are $7 and children under 6 are free. Donation includes food and soft drinks. For tickets see George Bonn, Colleen McDonnell, Anna Jaeger, Emily Kienle, Beverly Meserole or contact the church office. Tickets will be available after Worship Services on Saturdays and Sundays.
THE FOOD PANTRY IS IN NEED of volunteers for Friday nights from 5:00 p.m.—6:30 p.m. If you can help please call the church office.
THE FOOD PANTRY SERVED FOR THE MONTH OF JULY: 38 families and 97 adults.
HUNGER DOES NOT TAKE A VACATION. Please continue your support of our Food Pantry over the summer. Thank you for all your help in the past. If you know anyone who is in need of assistance, please refer them to the St. John's Food Panty. The pantry is very LOW on: JELLO, Toilet Paper, Pasta Sauce and Baked Beans. If you can help, please drop your donations off at the office or the food pantry. Thank you.
HOLIDAY HOME TOUR –Do you love to decorate to the fullest for the Christmas Season? We are looking to share four new homes with St. John’s families. The tour was a great success last year and we raised $520 for the Flower Fund. If you would like to have your home part of the Holiday Homes Tour, please call Darlene Freund at 631-957-3270.
SUNDAY SCHOOL STARTS SEPTEMBER 12th. If you have a child that is ready for Sunday School, you can register him/her on the first day of Sunday School which is Sunday, Sept 12. If you would like any information about the Sunday School program, please call our Director, Linda Curran at 631-226-7282.
50+ TRIP TO WESTBURY—We are going to Westbury Music Fair to see “Give My Regards to Broadway” on, Tuesday, November 9th. Tickets are $78 and includes transportation, lunch at the Swan Club and the show. We will meet at Dover St. between 9 & 10 a.m. and carpool to the Rainbow Center. FINANCIAL UPDATE: So far, 3rd quarter proceeds for 2010 are $160.90. The year-to-date proceeds for 2010 are $602.30. Since the start of this program in August 2007, we have raised $4,192.70.

WOMEN’S NEWS ~ SELF ESTEEM IN RELATIONSHIPS This program is developed by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America to help women find the support and encouragement as they grow in self awareness and self esteem. It runs for 8 weeks and starts on September 9—October 28. It is FREE, non-denominational and CONFIDENTIAL. It is being held at Ascension, 33 Bay Shore Rd. Deer Park. LONG ISLAND LUTHERAN presents the 22nd Annual LU HI OPEN. Golf Outing and Awards Dinner will be held on Monday, September 27th at the Tam O’Shanter Club, Brookville, NY.
